Sarah Hodgson MD FRCSC

Dr. Sarah Hodgson was born and spent her early childhood in Kenya, and then went on to complete her medical school and Obstetrics and Gynecology residency training through the University of British Columbia. She completed extra elective training in menopause medicine and obtained her NAMS (North American Menopause Society) certification. As a general OB/GYN her other interests include advanced laparoscopic gynecologic surgery, and promoting international women’s health in low resource settings. She recently spent a year volunteering at a mission hospital in Kenya. She is actively involved in continuing medical education, promoting evidence-based gynecologic care in our community as recent co-chair of the organizing committee for the annual Victoria Gynecology Update.

Harold Hunt MD FRCSC

Dr. Hunt is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of British Columbia.

He completed his medical degree at The University of Western Ontario and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. He has practiced on Vancouver Island for more than 20 years. He is the former head of the department of Gynecology for the South Island. He has a keen interest in education and has received several teaching awards. He was the inaugural director of the OBGYN Clerkship program in Victoria for the Island Medical Program. He was the organizer of the Primary Care Gynaecology Update for 5 years in Victoria. He is a member of the provincial Colposcopy Program involved in cervical screening and cancer treatment. His clinical interests include laparoscopic surgery and vulvar diseases.

David Quinlan MBBCH FRCOG FRCSC

Dr. Quinlan is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of British Columbia.

He received his medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1983. Residency training was at the University of Natal, the University of Auckland and the University of British Columbia. He completed a 2-year Fellowship in Pelvic Surgery at the University of Utah (1993 – 1995). Dr. Quinlan has been a Visiting Consultant in Urogynaecology at both St George’s Hospital, London and Addenbrooke’s Hospital, University of Cambridge.

His clinical interests involve most aspects of gynecology and include both non-surgical and surgical management. He has a special interest in abnormal uterine bleeding, pre-invasive disease of the cervix and pelvic floor disorders.

Dr. Quinlan has extensive experience in international women’s health. He was awarded the 2012 Walter Mackenzie Fellowship in Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for fistula work in Ethiopia.

Dr. Quinlan is past president of the Western Society of Pelvic Medicine and was a board member of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Canada. He was Head of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Island Health. He is currently the Island Lead for the BC Cervical Cancer Screening Program.

Samantha Wong MD FRCSC

Dr Samantha Wong-Merrick received her medical degree and specialty training in obstetrics and gynecology at UBC in 2018. She has completed additional training in fertility and pelvic ultrasound. After practicing around southern Vancouver Island, she is thrilled to settle in Victoria. She provides consultative obstetric care through Victoria General Hospital. Her gynecology practice encompasses both medical and surgical care, but she has special interest in minimally invasive surgery.

Kim MacDonald MD MSc FRCSC

Dr. MacDonald is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of British Columbia Dr. MacDonald completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University before completing a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at UBC. Apart from his general clinical gynecology and surgery practice, Dr. MacDonald has clinical interests in high-risk pregnancy, early pregnancy assessment and pregnancy loss. As a complement to this work, he is a co-founder of the Pacific Perinatal Foundation which supports families with difficult pregnancy and fertility journeys through community events, emotional and financial support.

Nina Maerkl MD FRCSC

Dr. Maerkl completed her medical degree and residency at the University of British Columbia.  She is a general obstetrician-gynecologist at heart but has completed extra training during her residency with interests in endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery, as well as providing and improving access to surgical care in international and local low-resource communities. Originally from Vancouver Island, she is looking forward to building connections and contributing to the community in Victoria.

Marjon Blouw MD CCFP FCFP

Dr. Marjon Blouw received her degree in Family Practice from UBC in 1988. She worked in Family Practice until 2000 in Victoria BC.She started her practice in Sexual Medicine with an Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 2000 – 2004 doing GP consults. Since 2004, Dr.Blouw works

with all patients, individuals or couples addressing concerns regarding problems with libido, arousal/erectile response, orgasm, ejaculation and pain with intercourse. She has been using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients make change since 2000.

Tracey Wright-Atchison RN

Tracey Wright Atchison has a rich background in women’s health spanning over three decades. Tracey earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters in Nursing from the University of Victoria.

She divides her time between Full Circle Clinic, the maternity units at Victoria General, and teaching in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Camosun College. Her role as an educator allows her to share her wealth of experience with the next generation of nursing professionals, shaping their understanding of women’s health and nursing practice.

In the clinic she provides expertise in pelvic organ prolapse health where she provides pessary fittings and ongoing pessary maintenance for women to help manage their prolapse and urinary incontinence.
